The end of the tomatoes

Pulled the last tomato plants today. The green fruit is wrapped in newspaper in a box in the shed. Usually about half of them ripen over the next three weeks, the rest go to the hens.
Best this year was the small red cherry type grown from my own saved seed. The big beefsteak ones looked great in July and then cracked after every storm.
The stems and leaves do not go on the compost — there was blight last year and I would rather not keep it around. The bed got a barrow of manure and will sit until the spinach goes in.
